Abstract:

In the present research, the ascending phase (2019-2024) of solar cycle 25 has been investigated. The largest yearly mean sunspot number was recorded in the year 2024. The occurrence of 244 halo CMEs (coronal mass ejections) and 146 GMNSs (geomagnetic storms) based on Dst index was recorded during 2019-2024. No severe geomagnetic storm occurred during 2019 - 2022. Out of three severe geomagnetic storms, one was recorded in 2023 and two were recorded in 2024. The present research also focuses on the correlation between geomagnetic activity and solar wind parameters (interplanetary magnetic field, electric field, speed and proton density). The phase relationship of solar cycle 25 between halo CMEs and geomagnetic storms has also been investigated.
